    About: Tacoma Creates is a voter-approved initiative to increase access to arts, culture, heritage, and science experiences throughout Tacoma by reducing barriers to access and expanding offerings, particularly for underserved youth. Eligible non-profit arts, culture, heritage, and science organizations are able to apply for funding that helps them expand equitable access to public programs, increase opportunities in neighborhoods throughout Tacoma, expand educational options for youth, and build sustainability for ongoing cultural programs that provide value for people throughout the City of Tacoma.

  • Khemarak Samaki Classical Group (KSCG)

    KSCG is a classical dance group originated from Wat Samaki Ratanaram Temple in Tacoma, WA. Ever since the group has formed over a decade ago, KSCG has showcased an impressive list of classical dance, folk dance, and traditional plays at various community events while incorporating performers of all ages. After becoming proficient in dance choreography, the dancers then pass down their knowledge as dance instructors to KLACA students. The instructors are Lok Kru Ben Taing, Nek Kru Sras “Precious” Chuop, Nek Kru Somalin Thach, Lok Kru Boray Thach and the late Lok Kru Kimsang Lor. Through their dedication and support to KLACA’s nonprofit organization, their goals are to preserve and pass down Khmer arts and culture to our kids and generations to come.

  • Asia Pacific Cultural Center is an inclusive hub for diverse communities, cultures and generations. Their mission is to bridge communities and generations through art, culture, education and business. They are a center for cultural exchange providing programs and services that promote the greater awareness, understanding, equity, and inclusion of the Asian and Pacific Islander people. This community includes immigrants, refugees, children and youth, seniors and elders, low-income, and all groups who are a part of the Asia Pacific community.

    APCC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Tacoma, Washington, serving the Greater Puget Sound and beyond. APCC represents and serves the Asia Pacific people from 47 different countries, providing a wide range of programs and activities, many of which are free or very low cost of admission. APCC brings people together in the spirit of acceptance and understanding, helping to build a stronger, healthier, more vibrant community for present and future generations.

  • KhAAG - Khmer Advocacy and Advancement Group | KhAAG • /kāj/ are dedicated to advancing the rights and welfare of all refugee and immigrant communities by offering support, assistance, and guidance in navigating the immigration system in the United States. They strive to create a supportive and inclusive community that advocates for fair policies and empowers individuals from all backgrounds to reach their full potential.

  • CCAW - Cambodian Cultural Alliance of Washington — Founded in 2002 in White Center for the purpose of showcasing the Cambodian culture and arts through the celebration of the Cambodian New Year with many of the local performance groups and musicians.

    Cambodian Cultural Alliance of Washington, also commonly known as CCAW, consists of a group of community volunteers who work together to put on the annual street festival, host a movie night, support and highlight cultural group performance. The organization is based in Whitecenter, Seattle, WA.

  • CACCWA - The Cambodian American Community Council of Washington’s (CACCWA) mission is to strengthen Cambodian-American communities and organizations by promoting and supporting multi-ethnic community unity, cultural preservation, partnerships, collaboration, and capacity building for its member organizations.

    Group of talented comedians and community members from the Southeast Asia diaspora — based in Tacoma, WA.

  • Council Member Joe Bushnell, elected in November 2021, serves District 5, which includes parts of South Tacoma, the South End and East Tacoma, Washington.

  • KhmerLife is a US based nonprofit organization founded in late 1999 as an effort to help connect Cambodian people from all over the world. This effort is still a large part of the KhmerLife vision today. KhmerLife Apparel was founded in early 2019 to help fund efforts in supporting Cambodian community programs that aspire to embrace and preserve Khmer culture for the next generation.
